Olympic Team has three stars from Elite league

While most people are familiar with the Swedish hockey superstars who play in the NHL, like Forsberg and Sundin, few have heard of the three players on the Olympic team who play in Sweden. The three are;

Stefan Liv - Goaltender
Mika Hannula - Forward
Ronnie Sundin - Back

You may have heard of Ronnie Sundin, he was in the Rangers organization for a while. He played with both the Rangers and the Hartford Wolfpack but did not want to play on a farm team in the US so he came back to Sweden. He has won two championships in the last three years with Frölunda Indians, the team from Gothenburg Sweden. He is a tough, strong palyer who is good offensively. He is compact and wide, very strong on his skates. He plays a simple game with an eye on overall play, he is often well positioned.

Mika Hannula is a star in Sweden. He plays for a team called HV71 in Jönköping and they lead the Eliteserien right now. He is a creative forward with excellent technical skills, explosive at times with a scoring touch. He has lead the league in scoring but this year is not even in the top ten. He is capable of flashes of brilliance and speed. A very solid player who will have an impact on the Olympics.

Stefan Liv is a goalie with HV71 and won a championship with them in 2004. He is a solid goalie who had a down year last year, but he is probably only going to play a back-up role in these Olympics, there is little chance he will replace Henrik Lundqvist in net.
