New Season, new players

Steve Kariya has landed, he will wear number 18 for the Frölunda Indians this season. He has not spent much time in the rink this summer according to the press I have read, and has not felt so strong on his skates. He did score in the last pre-season game so perhaps he is not that rusty. Good to see a big name come in to town, of course, we wouldn't mind if his brother came along as well.

Tommy Salo is back for another year in the net. He has a youngster nipping at his heels though; Joel Gistedt. Gistedt may be one of the new generation of Swedish goalies, like Honken and Henke. He is young, playing behind his idol, and has already won two games in the Elitserien before he turned 19. Now, as a 19 year old, he will be the number two goalie on a team that went to the finals the last two years and won once. He could be a superstar like Henrik Lundqvist or Tommy Salo.

Right now the Nordic Trophy pre-season tournament is being played. Four teams from Sweden versus four teams from Finland, Frölunda has already lost twice, not too auspicious.
